Driving directions from Santee (52)
1. Drive down the I-52 west until the freeway ends on La Jolla Parkway. Continue west until the light at La Jolla Shores - there will be a Mobil station to the right.
2. Make a right onto La Jolla Shores. Drive down La Jolla Shores for about a mile until you see the southernmost edge of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. There will be a low cement sign.
3. Find parking. There is all-day parking on the right-hand side (east side) of the street, and one-hour parking on the left (west side). The all-day side is usually full. When the weather is nice, you may have to look for parking further away. There is parking among the houses south of Scripps. There is also metered parking in a UCSD lot up the right side of the hill. To access that parking lot, make a right on the street just before the bridge across the street. Then turn right into the parking lot immediately to the right. In any case, read all of the posted signs carefully because the rules are different from place-to-place.
4. The best way to get to my building is to look for the short stairs that go from La Jolla Shores down to a plaza (with construction). Make a right or turn right at the bottom of the stairs and you'll find an asphalt path going up to the back of Vaughan Hall. Vaughan Hall is next to La Jolla Shores just south of the pier, but north of the blue-tiled buildings. You can come in the loading dock on the La Jolla Shores side or you can go around the building and find the front entrance on to the north or west. Once you're in the building, take the elevator to level 4L. As you exit the elevator, turn right and my office will be at the end of the hallway (Room 430).
Driving directions from I-5
1. North on I-5, take I-52 west (also called La Jolla Parkway, previously known as Ardath Road) and follow the instructions given above.
2. South on I-5, exit west on La Jolla Village. You will see signs for UCSD to the right. Continue around until you pass several light and see the sign for La Jolla Shores.
3. Turn left at the light - it will be a sharp left. Go down the grade until you see Scripps. Once you pass underneath the pedestrian bridge, start looking for parking according to the Santee directions.
