About the educational website and CD
Forces of Nature: Weather
    Parts of the educational website Forces of Nature: Weather were produced and developed by the Earthguide educational web development group to accompany the Weather and Water 5th Grade Program developed by the Ocean Institute. The Ocean Institute program was piloted with 5'th grade classes in Orange County, California during Fall of 2005. Earthguide is part of the Geosciences Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

    Support for production of the website and new materials was provided by SCCOOS and Earthguide. Educational components of the website were contributed and/or developed by the Ocean Institute and Earthguide. Content was provided by the Ocean Institute, numerous agencies, individuals and Earthguide. Technical solutions were provided by Earthguide.

    The CD was produced after the website, to provide a useful additional means of distribution by special request from the Ocean Institute in Fall of 2006. SCCOOS funded development of the CD. The eccentricities of the CD are related to its web-based origins. At the time the CD was released, key upgrades to both the CD and website were released concurrently. The main upgrade allows students to save partially completed work on their local computers.

    The materials for the website and CD were produced and assembled by Earthguide interns who are undergraduate students at the University of California, San Diego. Their creative efforts include both art and technical elements. Earthguide team members hope kids will have fun while learning about the weather in southern California!
