About the Project

This online educational outreach project was initiated with funding for the Digital Fish Library (DFL) project from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Biological Infrastructure program (Grant DBI-0446389).

Additional funding was provided by COSEE-California and Earthguide at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

This outreach website was produced with project collaborators at the University of California, San Diego involving the following research centers:

•  Center for Scientific Computation in Imaging (CSCI)
•  Center for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CfMRI)
•  Marine Vertebrates Collection at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO)
•  Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography

The website and its educational content was designed and built by the Earthguide online educational media group at the Geosciences Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Earthguide works with UCSD undergradautes in developing educational websites for schools and the public. Most of the animations contained in this website were produced by an enthusiastic and creative team of UCSD students.

And lastly, we could not have produced this website without the support of many individual and academic contributors who provided us with their knowledge and beautiful imagery of fishes from around the world. Thanks to all of you!
